Here's a view of the front
grille aperture. It looks like the bottom edge has been repaired at some point,
and there are pieces broken off around the bottom row of holes that the grille
screw posts feed through. When fitting the grille, the metal fins tend to rub
against the edges of the aperture, scuffing and chipping the paint. I know that
if I repair and tidy up the aperture edge I'm just going to scuff it up again
when I refit the grille (In the photo you can also see a pair of holes that I
think may have been used to mount foglamps at some point.)
